SARAH ANN MARSHAM

£SOLD

  SARAH ANN MARSHAM £SOLD
I would like to think I get into the thoughts of my girls as they work their sampler. I feel Sarah was quite a neat girl, with a side to her nature, in that her teacher insisted that she sewed carefully BE AMIABLE & AFFECTINOTE.
Worked in 1838 Sarah was born about 1830 in Chalfont Buckinghamshire . In 1856 at the age of 26 she married Alfred Shearsby a Hackney Cab Proprietor , (that is someone that ran a horse drawn carriage for hire). They had three children. She died aged 63 in October 1893.
Her sampler remains in wonderful condition measuring only 14.5 cm square (frame size 22 cm square).
